 CRON / CRONTAB

Time-based job scheduler in Unix-like computer operating systems.

Syntax

Jobs are created with the following schedule fields

.---------------- minute (0 - 59)
|  .------------- hour (0 - 23)
|  |  .---------- day of month (1 - 31)
|  |  |  .------- month (1 - 12) OR jan,feb,mar,apr ...
|  |  |  |  .---- day of week (0 - 6) (Sunday=0 or 7) OR sun,mon,tue,wed,thu,fri,sat
|  |  |  |  |
*  *  *  *  *  command-to-be-executed

Wildcards * should be retained for any field not specified,
and may be divided to represent fractional schedules … */4

Simplified designations can be used in place of the fields

@reboot    # run once, at startup
@yearly    # run once a year
@annually  # same as @yearly
@monthly   # run once a month
@weekly    # run once a week
@daily     # run once a day
@midnight  # same as @daily
@hourly    # run once an hour
